district surrounded by a scenic landscape of gently rolling hills. In
addition to the many dining, shopping and entertainment venues, Concord’s
beautiful downtown area features several structures from the early 1920’s.

Courthouse Theater in 1986. The home of Charles
A. Cannon, the developer of Cannon Mills, is another well-preserved stately
structure in Concord.

Mills Mall, North Carolina’s most popular attraction. The Mall houses
dozens of specialty stores, outlet shops, a movie theater and special events for

races and nearly 400 additional exciting racing related events throughout the
year. NASCAR also operates a Research and Development Office from Concord. With
nearly 90% of all racing teams operating their headquarters within 50 miles of
Lowe’s Motor Speedway, Concord serves as the heart of NASCAR racing. Concord
area racing teams include Chip
Ganassi Racing, Hendrick
Motorsports and Roush
Racing. Each team has designated shops and areas open to the public.
Concord’s excellent primary and secondary public school facilities are part
of the Cabarrus County
School District. Several private schools also serve the area. Concord is
home to Barber-Scotia College,
Cabarrus College of
Health Services and the South campus of the Rowan-Cabarrus
