Lincolnton is the second oldest town west of the Catawba
River and was the site of the first cotton mill south of the Potomac
River. This groundbreaking cotton mill established Lincolnton as the
birthplace of the textile industry in the South. Lincolnton eventually

the seat and only municipality in Lincoln County.

Gaston

Street Community. Lincolnton’s classical downtown setting features
