Lincolnton, North Carolina reveals a peaceful community tucked away on the “quiet side of Charlotte” in beautiful Lincoln County. Lincolnton is only minutes away from I-40 and I-85, with convenient access to the urban amenities available in Charlotte, Hickory and Gastonia. Lincolnton is the second oldest town west of the Catawba River and was the site of the first cotton mill south of the Potomac River. This groundbreaking cotton mill established Lincolnton as the birthplace of the textile industry in the South. Lincolnton eventually transformed into the area’s center for employment and trade and now serves as the seat and only municipality in Lincoln County.  

Education is a top priority in Lincolnton. Between the public and private schools, families have several excellent options. There are numerous colleges and universities servicing this region of NC, including Lenoir Rhyne in Hickory and Queens University and The University of North Carolina in Charlotte. Gaston College has a campus in Lincolnton. This thriving facility offers various technical and two-year degrees in addition to the non-credited programs for local business and industry enrichment.

Lincolnton boasts a delightful downtown area and the prestige of its listing as a National Main Street Community. Lincolnton’s classical downtown setting features tree-lined streets peppered with various dining establishments and unique shopping opportunities. Various historical Revolutionary and Civil War sites and buildings reflect the area’s rich heritage. The Lincoln Cultural Center organizes numerous historical celebrations, artistic competitions and concert and theatrical productions for the community. The Center is also home to the Arts Council, the Choral Guild, the Community Concert Association, the Lincoln Chapter of the North Carolina Symphony, Lincoln County Museum and the Theatre Guild.

Lincolnton nestles between the majestic Blue Ridge Mountains and Lake Norman, both of which bring fresh opportunities for recreation with the dawn of each new season. Activities include fishing, horseback riding, sailing and there are numerous trails suitable for cycling or walking. Exciting sporting events in Charlotte, furniture shopping in Hickory and golfing in Gastonia are also within a reasonable driving distance.
